The Story of Eco ASSOCIATES
Eco ASSOCIATES is the embodiment of multicultural business; our logo is the business conceptualization of the Step Pyramid of Pharaoh Djoser at Saqqara that encapsulates the notion of permanent progress and improvement. The company owes its name to the renowned Italian medievalist, semiotician, and philosopher Umberto Eco, a compatriot of our founder and CEO. Umberto Eco became world-famous in the 1980s for his best-selling, award-winning novels. The story behind the name selection is shared by Eng. Francesco Kratter, co-founder and former partner of Eco Associates , who later moved to Kazakhstan for business purposes. Francesco recalls: “It is hard to believe"
but everything happened in my office at the Gabal el Asfar Wastewater Treatment (WWT) plant. While searching for a unique name for the company we were planning to launch, I remembered the famous author Umberto Eco , whose books I had read. I then suggested using his surname, followed by the word ‘Associates.’ Back then, we were all still working in WWT plants, and we originally planned to keep our new business within that sector. However, as we can see today, things took an entirely different direction from what we first envisioned. This reminds me of one of my favorite quotes:
“Life is what happens to you when you are busy making other plans”.
